Second Chance Ranch is a small Non Profit Organization for Animal Rescue and Preservation. Our program is about Inspiring, Informing, and Educating the Community as well as Animal Rescue and Preservation. We want to change the public awareness and attitudes and promote action towards conditions that compromise the well being of the animals. We would like to strengthen the community and bring the people together. Help them learn how to work as a team to protect each other and their animals. Our goal is to Improve our community and promote growth and healthy environment and overall quality of life in our local area. Currently, we are working to provide immediate long-term animal rescue facilities and services, a "Safe Haven" for abused, neglected, abandoned, lost and slaughter bound animals plus many, many others. Our communities have critical and pressing needs that Second Chance Ranch understands and is currently reaching out to you to address and help us with generating an economic solution to a large proportion of the problems in our areas. Most of our Local Animal shelters have either closed their doors to most animals, unless it is an Emergency, (and then it costs hundreds of dollars people don't have) Or they have completely shut down. So our Communities are left to fend for themselves, and worse, the animals
are left with out the proper vaccinations, vet care, food, water and turned loose to fend for themselves in more cases than I can count. The People of Our Communities have no where to turn! They have no one to turn to for help with this! Second Chance Ranch would like to change this! With your help!

Hola Everyone,
Here I am in sunny California. Well not so sunny. It's overcast and drizzling here in San Diego. I am enjoying it though. It's hot and muggy in La Cruz now so this is a nice break. I will be here in the States until the 26th of June. That's the date that we have for our 10 year anniversary party and my 66th birthday party at Philo's. Mark your calenders, it should be a great time.
While I am here in California, I will be playing a couple of times in and around Mendocino. One of the dates that I will be playing will be June 25th at Buddy Stenback's Ranch in my old home town of Comptche. I will be playing at the Mendocino High School's 1980, 1981 and 1982's class reunion. It will be quite an affair. When I taught there during those years, I had a Rock and Roll program and had a lot of kids who participated. Most of them are still playing music so we will be having a huge outdoor concert with all of us getting back together and jamming till all hours of the night. Also we have set up another music night on Friday June 24th of June. This we are calling the "Gathering of the Tribe pre party, a benefit for the Second Chance Ranch."

So here we go again with the "Gathering of the Tribe." We can expect some really good music. Lots of musicians have already signed up. My next issue of my notes will have a list of some of the guest musicians that we expect to show up. If you can come please do. There will be camping at the ranch and if your intrested in getting a room please let me know and I will help you by providing a list of places to stay in and around Mencocino. Hope to see you there.

The Date is set!!! Saturday, June 25th, 2011 at the Stenback Ranch in Comptche.
This will be a family oriented day and we are encouraging everyone who is coming to bring a tent, sleeping bags, blankets, RV's etc and STAY OVER so we do not have any drinking and driving. With a year in planning there might be a DUI road block and we all want to be safe....arrive alive!!
Music ALL day and into the evening with the return of JAIN, Mighty T-Bones, Jammin into the night with members of Dada, Edgewise, Surrender, Philo Hayward and many more surprises and special musical guests... Bring your dancing shoes! Or take your shoes off! Time to celebrate our high school reunion...
We will be doing a Friday Prep Party June 24 to get the Ranch set for Saturdays get together. If you want the best piece of real estate for the party ya might wanna come up early to claim your ground
There will be food served but how much etc will depend on how many attend. More attend, the better we eat!! HA HA We will have large BBQ's for everyone to use. At this point we can see doing simple hot dogs, hamburgers etc. We will ask everyone that comes to help share with food such as snacks for the afternoon, desserts, finger food etc so there is plenty to snack on. Please plan on bring food to feed yourself and family and also BYOB!!!

On a really sad note, we lost our good friend and fellow musician Don Branch, (Harmonica Donny) to a heart attack this past week. Donny was retired from the US Army and move to Mexico in the late 1990's. Donny played harmonica in the Band Rock of Ages. Donny was 62 years old. RIP Donny. You will be sorely missed old friend.
If by chance you are still here in Mexico l just want to let you know that Philo's is still open and we still have live music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Come keep us company.
